Our emotions are often on autopilot

We may not be fully aware of the emotions we have let alone how they are driving us. We are on autopilot and often become aware of our emotions only when they feel too overwhelming. 

Have you ever really asked yourself…..
How your emotions might impact you?
  • Do you notice you yell at your kids when you don’t want to?
  • Are you trying to control all the people and all the things as a way to avoid discomfort?
  • Do you spin in your head with anxiety about situations?
  • Are you feeling ‘off’ but can’t quite pinpoint what thoughts or feelings you have?
  • Do you spend a lot of energy trying to ‘feel better’?
All of these things can be common when we aren’t aware:
  1. What we are feeling
  2. What to do about it
  3. How to work with it rather than fight it

We give this work the name of Emotional Intelligence.


It sounds stuffy, but it will help you with the skills of :
  • Understanding WHAT you feel (and how it feels in your body)
  • Learning your own relationship to different feelings (ones you chase and ones you avoid)
  • Noticing the habits you have with how you DEAL (cause we are often dealing with emotions rather than feeling emotions)
  • Growing your tolerance and capability of feeling different emotions (rather than resisting them and causing secondary suffering)
  • Improving how you show up in relationships with others and YOURSELF (our emotional state can highjack conflict resolution)
  • Living a life that is led by your own VALUES and HOPES rather than a life that is led by your current emotional state (we need to understand that we act based on how we feel, and how we can leverage this for intentional living rather than reactive living

Emotions drive everything we do


  • We act based on how we feel
  • We use emotions to motivate ourselves 
  • We chase emotions (often we chase the emotion of happiness)
  • We avoid emotions (often we avoid feeling anger or shame)

These workshops are the core concepts of emotional intelligence I share with most every client. Because the reality is, we aren’t born with emotional intelligence. It is something we need to learn along the way (and if you are a caregiver, you are probably trying to teach it to a child too!)
